Golf can be a great way to get away from it all, but sometimes life will not let you get away from it all for that long. That happened to me a few weeks ago when the time for nine holes came up. I’m glad I took it, and it led me to The Golf Club at Mill Creek in Franklin.

The staff was friendly, and the mountain views were great. Sickness claimed my playing partner, but I was going to get a round in, and so off I went. As a “normal person” golfer (link) I appreciated what I found which was a difficult but friendly test.

The front nine has two par threes and Bermuda greens of the course that was built in 1980. The course was in good shape. Appreciate folks letting me play through, and pace of play wasn’t a problem. The 18-hole, par 72, 6,153-yard course.

My return to golf (link to first column) is still a work in progress, and this was a perfect place to keep that going. It could certainly be challenging for any level of player Friendly service and great views for a round of golf.

While golfing, you are surrounded by the beauty of the Nantahala National Forest on each shot. I only got nine holes in this time but will be looking to play 18 next time. Hoping my partner will be up to it!
